I just found a small collection of Japanese Wood hand carved old Netsuke and this Inro in a New York estate.
Here we have another very fine Japanese Hand carved wood & carved Mice Inro. I know there is something very special about this example because I cannot find anything like it anywhere. Carved applied mice to the wood on each side and the top. A hanging Netsuke mouse and a signature that is unlike others I have seen. Very precise done in Mother of pearl. The inro itself measures 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" in girth. Great condition and just unusual. Netsuke collectors will know the signature. I believe this to be quite important. Aside from the other pieces, this was the only piece from the NY estate that had a provenance. It was owned by Famous Navy Captain "Willard "Bill" Franklin Searle Jr" A retired Navy captain whose job was to raise sunken ships. He had this in his collection for years.
