    The Negaunee & Palmer Railroad Company was incorporated in Michigan on June 30, 1888. The line ran between the two named cities in Marquette County, a distance of a bout 10 miles. The line was originally constructed to reach the new iron ore finds of the Pittsburgh & Lake Superior Iron Company.
    On July 17, 1890, the line was conveyed to the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic Railway Company.
